Friday the 13th and I've got a Lot of Time on my Hands

Friday the 13th certainly lived up to its reputation.

I got downsized today, laid off, fired, use whatever euphenism that you choose.  I've joined the ranks of the unemployed.

Perfect.

On a bright note, I have all the time to stitch, right?

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear that Joanie! The same happened to me a couple of weeks ago although I work on contract, not as an employee.

I think the immediate thing is just to take time to let the shock wear off! Take care of yourself!

ps I try to tell myself that at least it's a good time of the year, season wise, to be not working!

Oh, Lord, Joanie. Best wishes. I've been out for about 5 months--although I quit a horror of a job. I've only been looking hard for about 6 weeks, and things finally seem to be improving a bit in the job market. I hope you find something even better. Try to enjoy the stitching time.

Joanie....so sorry to hear this! I am on pins and needles about my job right now...I work in the schools and we have been told there will be major lay-offs...even with the years service, no one will be exempt..

Hope something turns up for you..Hang in there!

Sorry to hear this Joanie. I went through this a while ago, and in hindsight it was the best thing that could have happened to me. Better career path, more balance, etc. now. I hope you find whatever your path should be and DO enjoy the time off! I had a great stash-supplied vacation!

Joanie, I am so sorry. I'll keep you in my prayers, that there is something better waiting for you, and that you can relax enough to take a little time for yourself and enjoy the stitching time.

It's so scary to join those ranks. I've been out of work since last July and yet, life is good.

Treat yourself to a weekend of stitching or doing whatever you want. Will keep good thoughts for you!

Oh, Joanie, I'm sorry to hear this! It's their loss.

Look at it as an opportunity to find something better. And to stitch in the meantime!

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

WOW. I am sorry to hear that. I was downsized after 20 years with the same job. Meaning, we can hire 2 younger people for the same price as you... Got to love that right? Jobs are out there and I am sure you will find one soon.

Joanie, that is bad news indeed and I'm sorry you have to go through this! Sympathetic hugs and hopes that you'll soon find a job that you enjoy as much. In the meantime, treat yourself well!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Joanie...I hope something turns up soon, but in the meantime--take time to do the simple things you've always wanted to do, but didn't have time for due to your job...

I am so sorry about your job. It seems to be an epidemic these days. Take some time for yourself and re-group before trying to look for anything new (if that is what you want). Big hugs to you.

Oh I'm so sorry to read this Joanie - my sincere sympathies!! I know your DH retired not that long ago as well so it might be added stress financially. Darn this economy! My DH was laid off twice during the early part of this recession and it was a difficult time for us especially emotionally. Keep us posted on how you are doing...thank goodness we at least have our stitching as a distraction.
