We have a new acquisition...

We got a gift last night: This cute little bundle of fur came to live with us last night. Our friend, Mark, discovered her while walking one of the gas lines about an hour from here. Mark works for the gas company and while he was out checking the line, he heard this plaintive sound. When he went looking for whatever was making this noise, he discovered this little kitten. She was a drop off, left to die on a country road. And Mark, kind soul, couldn't leave her to fend for herself on a road where the houses were few and far between. She never would have made the night, either she would have died on the road or from exposure. We got 6 inches of snow last night and the remote area Mark was working at was forecast for 8-12".

Mark packed her up in his truck and brought her home. When he got home, his wife Karen, called and asked if we knew of anyone who wanted a kitten. My DH said to bring her over. She's coming to live with us. (He's such a softie.)

Sweetie girl isn't too thrilled, she hisses and swats at her and Chrissy the Wonderdog isn't phased by her. Right now all she wants is to be held. And she is very vocal. Right now she is perched on my shoulder. If I put her down, she cries and climbs back on.

She looks to be about 8-10 weeks old. She is weaned. We haven't named her. I am at a loss. She doesn't look like a Cloe or an Abigail or a Sophie. I'd like a pretty name but her personality is all tomcat. She's not afraid of anything. Last night she tried to climb into the woodstove when Dave was putting logs on the fire. I don't think she's litter trained because I found a present in the back of the closet in the bedroom we are turning into an office. She's got to learn to use the box, otherwise, she will be a barn cat before she knows it. If anyone knows how to box train a cat, please let me know!

She's the sweetest thing and I am happy we've taken her in. I always believed that strays find the homes that God wants them to have and the folks that take them in and give them love are richly blessed.

Welcome home, little kitty!

Oh, if you come up with a name, please post it.

Awwwww, how sweet of you to take her in, what a cutie. But then, I'm biased, she looks exactly like my Talula kitty, only mine has a white star on her nose.

I'm so glad you were able to give this little kitty a good home. We have always had rescue cats, including the one my sister couldn't take back to Hawaii when she moved. Maybe she'll need her own litter box near where she left her present, at least for awhile. I let my son name our last new kitty and now she goes by Cheddar, like the cheese. Oh well...

Awww joanie...she's too cute and she looks like she's a pterodactyl (extra claws on each foot). Give it some time to let you discover her personality...just when you least expect it, a name will pop into your head that fits.
Bless your heart for taking her in. Show her where the box is and try to keep an eye open for when she is pawing/scratching and scoot her over to the box. She should pick it pretty quickly. She's a cutie.

Whenever I have a new kitty, I put it in a small, non-carpeted room with the litter box. They aren't allowed to leave the room for two or three days (three is best). After I let them out, they go back to that room to use the box and I don't have any more problems.
She's a gorgeous kitty, good luck with her!!!
You could call her Zoe - after that little Muppet girl on Sesame Street who is cute but very active and vocal!

Cute lucky kitten!
I would name her Alice.

We lost our grey and white kitty last Christmas - she slept in the crook of my knee every night for 12 years. I still miss her terribly. Her name was Beanie after Mr. Bean. Welcome to your new home little pud!

She is beautiful, I love grey cats. The others will soon settle with her. My two oldies didn't take long to accept our kitten, though they will never be best buddies

What a cutie, and how wonderful you are for taking her in! She looks like a Bobbie Socks to me, with those cute white paws - Bobbie or Socks for short.

Bless you and DH for taking in the poor kitty - I'm sure she will have a good home with you. It breaks my heart knowing how cruel people can be to animals. Happy Thanksgiving Joanie!

she is adorable. I didn't read the other comments but I have always taken the kittens in the litter box and take their paws and dig in the box and when she does use it praise her and if you catch her going somewheres else tell her no in a stern voice and then take her to the litter box and do the paws thing. After a short time she will understand,

I love floral names for girls, and am thinking of Poppy and Daisy for my next two dogs. I think your little kitten is adorable, I'm so glad you took her in - she looks like a Violet to me.
